1 – 4 Coronary artery disease, defined as stenosis of more than 50% in major coronary arteries, is present in 58–70% of patients, depending on the initial ECG. The treatment of comatose survivors of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) from cardiac causes has evolved in recent years with more efficient prehospital management and implementation of therapeutic hypothermia which has been associated with improved outcome in terms of both survival and cerebral outcome.
